SANPC CEO Godfrey Moagi Joins SSOP 2026 as Block B2 Exploration Advances
Godfrey Moagi, CEO of the South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC), has been confirmed as a speaker at South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2026, taking place November 24–25 in Juba. His participation comes as the company advances exploration activities in South Sudan’s Block B2, opening new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Moagi will participate in the Regional National Oil Companies (NOC) panel, titled Resource Renaissance: Energy-Fueled Growth for a New Generation. The session will examine how bilateral cooperation between African NOCs can optimize resource extraction, accelerate infrastructure buildout and support South Sudan's near-term ambition to increase crude output from 174,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 230,000 bpd, with a longer-term ambition of 450,000 bpd.
SANPC's participation comes amid ongoing exploration preparations at Block B2, where the company is working with Nilepet to advance geological understanding and assess the block's hydrocarbon potential. In September 2026, SANPC issued a tender for integrated terrain reconnaissance services to support preparations for a planned 2D seismic campaign, representing a further step toward evaluating the acreage for future exploration.
The tender follows an aerial geophysical survey completed in 2024 by SANPC subsidiary Strategic Fuel Fund, covering approximately 47,000 km². The survey gathered geological and geophysical data to support the identification of prospective areas and guide subsequent exploration activities. To date, it represents one of the largest geophysical mapping initiatives executed in South Sudan. The exploration campaign demonstrates SANPC’s sustained commitment to de-risking frontier acreage and advancing geological understanding across South Sudan’s hydrocarbon basins.
Beyond Block B2, SANPC is pursuing a broader African investment strategy focused on acquiring producing and near-term production assets over the next 12-24 months. Its partnership with Nilepet reflects the potential for regional NOC cooperation to support exploration, mobilize technical expertise and advance new upstream developments.
Returning for its seventh edition as South Sudan's official energy investment platform, SSOP 2026 will provide an opportunity for Moagi to engage with government representatives, Nilepet executives, international operators, financiers and oilfield service providers on regional cooperation and commercial opportunities across the petroleum value chain.
Held under the theme Resource Renaissance – Energy-Fueled Growth for a New Generation, the conference will bring together African energy leaders and international investors to advance partnerships and investment across South Sudan's upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.
