The upcoming South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2026 conference, taking place November 24–25 in Juba, has been endorsed by South Sudan’s Ministry of Petroleum, reinforcing the event’s role as a key platform for investment engagement across the country’s energy sector.

Held under the theme “Resource Renaissance: Energy-Fueled Growth for a New Generation,” the seventh edition of SSOP will connect global capital with emerging opportunities across South Sudan’s energy value chain, supporting the national drive to attract foreign investment into exploration, brownfield redevelopment, downstream infrastructure and power generation.

As East Africa’s largest and well-established oil producer, South Sudan offers significant potential for production optimization, field recovery enhancements and domestic refinery expansion, with the Ministry of Petroleum currently listing 14 open exploration blocks.

SSOP has a track record of converting industry engagement into commercial and regional partnerships. At the 2023 edition, five strategic agreements covered areas including upstream exploration, drilling, mining and regional energy cooperation, while earlier editions produced agreements between South Sudan and Djibouti on energy and port cooperation and between South Sudan and Ethiopia on power interconnection, electricity trade and a transport corridor linking Pagak and Gambella.

The platform has also supported upstream investment, including an agreement between South Sudan and South Africa’s Strategic Fuel Fund on surveying and exploration in Block B2, alongside partnerships involving production expansion, Block 5A exploration and enhanced oil recovery.

The Ministry of Petroleum is simultaneously advancing a broader investment agenda across the sector. Its current licensing round lists 14 open blocks across the country, with five – A1, A4, B1, E2 and D1 – offered in the first licensing round. The Ministry has also identified increased production, enhanced and improved oil recovery and investment in domestic refining as key priorities, while continuing to engage potential international partners across the upstream and downstream sectors.

Recent activity underscores the government’s focus on attracting new capital and technical expertise. In July 2026, the Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with Bianchi Gold Trading Investment Company covering investment in South Sudan’s oil, gas and petroleum refining industries. The Ministry is also strengthening its institutional capacity, with construction of a new headquarters and data center nearing completion as it works to improve the management and regulation of the petroleum sector.

Building on this investment and partnership track record, SSOP 2026 aims to connect South Sudan with existing and prospective investment partners, strengthen international cooperation and forge new collaborations across the energy value chain.

The event will bring together government representatives, investors, energy companies, financiers and project developers through high-level panels and exclusive networking sessions focused on South Sudan’s policy reforms, investment opportunities and plans to expand its upstream, midstream and downstream infrastructure.

As South Sudan works to attract the capital and expertise required to sustain production, expand exploration and strengthen domestic energy infrastructure, SSOP 2026 will provide a platform for investors and industry stakeholders to engage directly with policymakers and identify opportunities across the country’s evolving energy landscape.
